A6 Dungiven to Drumahoe Dualling, L/Derry, N. Ireland
Design and construction of on-line/off-line improvements of the A6 Trunk Road from single carriageway to category 6 dual 2-lane carriageway for approximately 25.5km from east of Dungiven to the townland of Drumahoe bypassing Dungiven and Claudy.
The scheme includes four new compact grade separated junctions at Tamnaherin Road, Gulf Road, Baranailt Road and Feeny Road and three new roundabouts on the A6 Glenshane Road, east of Dungiven; at the new compact grade separated junction at Tamnaherin Road; and on the new A6 Trunk Road at Drumahoe.
There are 22 principal structures, 5 retaining walls and 13 box culverts included in the works scope as well as two new Park & Ride Facilities.
Significant utility interfaces include diversions of the main fibre optic link between Belfast and L’Derry and 19 watermain diversions (700 to 125mm ø) and 4 foul sewer diversions. 133m of 700mm ø, 214m of 500mm ø and 216m of 400mm ø pipework installed in cuttings in excess of 5m deep.
